| | World Cup 2010 Final | 11-07-2010 12:00:00 | Congrats Spain, after a 0-1 win in ET over the Netherlands they're the New World Champion and winners of the World Cup 2010!!!
The World Cup is getting closer to the final game of the tournament, and after todays Final we will know the new World Cup Champion for the next 4 years. We've seen four weeks of great football with luck and bad luck, with passion and nice football; everything was in it. The stadiums haven't been always full, some games were boring, but after all it was often enjoyable. Probably you got used to the Vuvuzela sound as well!
Anyways, let's have a short look at tonights final. Spain and The Netherlands will be the two teams that made it into the Grand final, to be played at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. Kickoff time will be 20:30CET, 19:30UK, 18:30GMT, 2.30pm EST. Perfect times to watch it, besides in Asia regions where it's the mid of the night.
Spain reached the final after a tough group stage, then they beaten Portugal, Paraguay and Germany to make it into their first final. Their semi final game was definately the best one so far! The Netherlands had an easy group stage with 9 points out of three games, a decent game against Slovakia, a real great game against Brazil, and a win against Uruguay before they made it. We can write hours about Sneijder vs Iniesta, Villa vs Van Persie, and all other battles of those who can show some great skills. Let's just hope we get a good and exciting final, with football and fans as the winners. With those two teams we can say so football wins. Tune in for this great game in 8,5 hours. May the best win!

Blackhawks Champions!
There was no red light, just Blackhawks flying over the boards in celebration. Sticks and helmets were thrown, scattered all over the ice and still no signal for a goal. After a brief review, there was no dispute - the Chicago Blackhawks were the Stanley Cup champions. Patrick Kane sneaked the puck past Michael Leighton 4:10 into overtime and stunned Philadelphia to lift the Blackhawks to a 4-3 overtime win in Game 6 on Wednesday night for their first championship since 1961.
No one but the Blackhawks appeared to know what was going on for a few frozen moments. Kane and his linemates seemed the only players on the ice who knew the puck found the side of the net. The goal light never went on, but that didn't stop most of the Blackhawks from storming the ice and mobbing each other in celebration. The review was a short one and Kane will go down as scoring one of the biggest winners in team history. "I was just hoping at God it was just an actual goal," said captain Jonathan Toews, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as playoff MVP. "They came back hard in the third and we just stuck with it."
Thanks for a great NHL year, and see you next Season! | |
